Suede Care 101: Protecting Your Bamboo Tote Through Every Season
Share
Suede is the most rewarding leather to live with and the most demanding to keep. Done well, the suede Bamboo Tote ages into something softer and more personal than any factory finish. Done badly, it shows every drop of water and every brush against a wet sleeve. Here is how the Urban Muze concierge keeps it looking new.
Before first use, treat the suede with a quality water and stain protector spray. Hold the can fifteen centimetres from the bag, mist evenly in light passes, and let it dry overnight in a cool, ventilated space. Repeat every three to four months, or before any season of heavy wear.
For daily care, keep a soft suede brush in your wardrobe and use it weekly. Brush in one direction to lift the nap, then in the opposite direction to even it out. This single habit removes dust before it sets in and keeps the surface uniform.
If the bag gets wet, do not rub. Blot gently with a clean, dry cloth and let it air dry away from heat. Once fully dry, brush to restore the nap. For spot stains, a suede eraser used in light circular motions will lift most marks; for anything more, contact our concierge for a restorer referral.
Storage matters as much as cleaning. Keep suede pieces in their dust bag, lightly stuffed to hold shape, away from direct sunlight and humidity. Rotate between bags rather than carrying one daily — suede appreciates rest.
With these small habits, the brown and beige suede Bamboo Totes will keep their soft, lived-in finish through every season — and look better with each year of wear.
